Covering a large portion of central Botswana the Central Kalahari Game Reserve can be accessed from all sides, and depending where you are heading to spend the night, the drive from the park entry to your overnight stop varies greatly in distance and time.

From Maun

From Maun there are numerous options depending on where you are travelling to in the central Kalahari. If you're heading to Deception Valley then the easiest route would be on the tarmac road heading towards Nata, turning off at the Makalamabedi Road. After Makalamabedi village the road travels along the cutline of the veterinary fence before reaching the gate to Deception Valley.

From Maun you may also choose to travel via Toteng, entering the Park in the North before heading on to Passarge.

From the South

From Gaborone and other southern areas, the central Kalahari can be accessed through Khutse Game Reserve.

From Namibia

The best route when entering Botswana from Namibia is through the Buitepos border post and travelling on to Ghanzi and one of the Northern entrance gates.

Flights from Maun

In the past two years concession areas have been set aside for lodges which laid airstrips for easy access into the Kalahari. It is a 45 min flight from Maun into Deception Valley.
